POPEYE :: EU-funded peer-2-peer project
The EU-funded POPEYE project is focused on industry-quality design for Ad-Hoc, peer-2peer, distributed computer network for enhanced computer-users collaboration. Its main design feature is the support of heterogeneous devices with seamless connection established in a dynamic topology scenario. Imagine having a 3G smart-phone which is dynamically re-routed as it changes nodes, topological location in a network. This, in theory, will improve overall availability of service as well as quality of resources. The resources are shared among peers and are equally available to each node. So low-resources devices can take advantage, most often HDD space, of other big-resource peer nodes on the current network.
